June 14th is International Bath Day! Do you plan to celebrate by filling the tub and popping open a bottle of bubbly? (By ‘bubbly’ we mean bubble bath, of course.)

According to National Day Calendar, this holiday commemorates the day that Greek mathematician, scientist and scholar Archimedes discovered the physical law of buoyancy – that an object’s volume could be accurately measured by being submerged in water – while taking a bath.

The legend goes that this happened one week before the summer solstice, and Archimedes was so excited by his discovery that he jumped out of the tub and yelled “Eureka!” repeatedly as he ran through the streets of Greece. Since his exact birthday is unknown, we settled on June 14th to celebrate Archimedes’ principle – and today, all things bath!

To observe the holiday, soak in this Connecticut Cottages and Gardens video created from the 2017 KLAFFS Bath Trends Expo for design professionals. It won’t teach you any laws of physics, but you will learn something new about bath design!

We hope you’ll be inspired to pay your KLAFFS showroom a visit in the near future. We look forward to seeing you!
