At Mitchells, we look at the changing season as a new chance for discovery — a perfect opportunity to review and renew, especially within your wardrobe. This fall there are tons of ways to elevate your style. Whether it’s a luxe puffer, a rich velvet bag or a slouchy boot, the possibilities are endless — and that’s why we’ve narrowed it down to help you navigate through the ever-changing waters of fashion. Here is The Mitchells’ cheat sheet for fall. The must have items that add maximum impact to update your look this season and beyond!
Velvet: Though we’ve certainly seen velvet for fall before, this season it is literally everywhere, turning up on everything from booties to ballgowns. This velvet bag from Saint Laurent is a great way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe. The tassel detail is a special touch.
Luxe Puffer: Though the puffer is a seasonal staple for anyone living in the northeast, they get a major upgrade for fall, reinterpreted in luxe leathers and shimmery metallics. This gold puffer from Brunello Cucinelli is the perfect cure for any winter blues.
70’s Flares: Reminiscent of 70’s styles, flares are a great update for fall, especially in one of the seasons’ hottest colors — deep red. This version from Michael Kors are super chic and insanely flattering. Just remember to make sure they are well tailored and fit perfectly. It’s a good thing we offer free tailoring.
Slouchy Boot: From Paris to New York, this style was seen all over the fall runways. This version from Manolo Blahnik is wearable and comfortable. They would look great paired with a long boho dress or skinny jeans.
Perfect Tote: An easy carryall is essential to take you from work to weekend seamlessly. This versatile black tote from Valentino has their signature studs, which add just enough interest without being overpowering.
Men’s Fabrications: Traditional men’s fabrications remade in feminine silhouettes offer a great balance. This fitted blazer from Veronica Beard instantly pulls together a casual look of jeans and a tee or would be equally chic thrown over a floral dress.
Graphic Gold: These statement earrings from Sylva & Cie feel both modern and romantic. The architectural shape paired with the delicate diamonds would be a great addition to any jewelry wardrobe.
Feathers: Feathers add an unexpected edge to this Brunello Cucinelli pencil skirt. Though the detail is whimsical, the classic shape of the skirt and traditional fabrication offer a great balance and make it surprisingly wearable.
Cool Sneakers: The past few seasons have seen a major resurgence of designer sneakers and we can assure you that they are here to stay. These are not your typical gym shoes and the low tech, high style versions add an edge to any fall look. Golden Goose are a favorite of all the street style stars — and for good reason. This metallic style is a nice alternative to classic white, especially as the weather turns cooler.
Handmade Details: Crochet, needlepoint and other Americana accents feel fresh this season when reinterpreted in a modern way. This Altuzzara sweater would look super chic paired with a leather skirt to balance out the sweetness.
